Sarah H. Packington is an Associate and member of the Banking & Finance practice group and the Corporate, Commercial & Securities practice group.  Sarah works regularly on corporate finance matters including corporate restructurings, start-ups, private equity funds, mergers and acquisitions and various regulatory matters for the securities industry.   

She is well versed in registering and advising asset managers, securities and investment advisors, broker-dealers and administrators with the Securities Commission, and regularly complete regulatory surveys for international institutions on the Bahamas security industry.

She also works regularly on insurance matters, including external insurance and insurance licensing.

Sarah was recently recognized by IFLR1000,  a guide to the world's leading financial law firms, as a "Rising Star" in the capital markets and banking practice group, specifically for her in-depth knowledge of the banking, financial services, investment fund, and investment management sectors in the Bahamas.

Sarah is a leading member of the Graham Thompson team working as technical advisers to the Bahamas Securities Commission on the overhaul of the Investment Fund Act, with a view to strengthening regulation of the sector and improving long-term growth and competition for this investment product.

Prior to joining the Firm in 2010, Sarah worked in the corporate and entertainment department of a New York law firm, where she assisted in all matters from pre to post production of motion pictures, including the structuring of private equity investments for a number of films.

Representative work includes:

  • Advising on the corporate restructuring of a major medical tourism company in The Bahamas;
  • Assisting with the corporate reorganization of an international brewing/distillery operation;
  • Assisting with the Initial Public Offering of shares in several Bahamian entities on the Bahamas International Stock Exchange (BISX);
  • Advising on the private equity offering of a major utility provider;
  • Acting for a major US private bank in connection with its establishment as an investment firm in The Bahamas, including obtaining all regulatory approvals; and
  • Assisting with the establishment and structuring of an offshore cruise line company.
