Dana C. Wells is one of the Senior Partners of the Firm and Chairman of both the Property & Development and Banking & Finance practice groups. He has acted as lead counsel for major international and Bahamian financial institutions on commercial loan transactions, including numerous multi-jurisdictional transactions involving groups of international banks.

Dana’s real estate expertise includes the structuring, financing and sale of commercial properties, subdivisions, residential projects, condominiums, time-sharing developments, hotels and resorts. He is also sought after for his in-depth knowledge of the local banking industry, mergers & acquisitions, and corporate matters.

He "represents clients in high-value and complex real estate transactions and related commercial financing mandates... on both national and multi-jurisdictional matters." Recent transactions include:

  • Representing a major international debt fund as local counsel in a debt-for-equity swap of approximately US$ 170 million, concerning a major Bahamian resort property and related joint venture interests, which included obtaining requisite multi-departmental Bahamian Government approvals for the acquisition, the assumption of casino management licenses, and a numerous relevant operating licenses;
  • Structuring real estate developments including luxury residential, hotel, marina, condominium, time-share, and commercial projects throughout Nassau, Paradise Island and the Family Islands;
  • Establishing local manufacturing concerns under the Industries Encouragement Act; and
  • Acquisition of the largest resort development in the Bahamas which involved a REMIC structure.
