Graham Thompson Attorneys to Lead GB FIDA
February 25, 2018Freeport, Grand Bahama – This coming February 25th, Graham Thompson attorneys Zia Lewis and Taccara Wright will be installed as President and Vice President of the Grand Bahama Chapter of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).
Zia Lewis, the FIDA President-Elect joined Graham Thompson in 2016. She is an Associate in the firm’s Grand Bahama office and a member of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Property & Development practice groups. The theme for the upcoming term is “Enriching our communities through the empowerment of women and children”. As far as where the organisation will place emphasis for the coming year, according to Zia, “this term our focus is to greater impact our local community by educating our women in particular. We intend to achieve this by hosting legal aid clinics with emphasis on family law and immigration issues, financial advice workshops, job training and interview preparation seminars etc. We would also like to create a stronger partnership with the GB Children’s Home whom we presently support.”
Taccara Wright, the FIDA Vice President-Elect highlights promoting the work and profile of FIDA as an important goal of her term. Citing in particular the organisation’s mandate of “promoting the welfare of women and children, realizing that the well-being of women and children depends the happiness of the home and the strength of society”. She emphasises “continuing to build strong, cooperative working relationships with our corporate partners for the benefit of FIDA’s Educational program and the community at large.”
Taccara joined Graham Thompson in 2011 and is also an Associate in the firm’s Grand Bahama office. She is a member of Graham Thompson’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice group.
