Sarah Packington is a Partner in the firm’s Financial Services, Private Client, Trusts and Estates Practice Group.

Sarah’s practice is focused primarily on banking and finance, corporate, commercial and securities, cross-border commercial transactions, including complex structured financing transactions with international lenders and other financial institutions and in advising on and applying for all governmental approvals. She acts for financial institutions on a variety of regulatory matters on both a transactional and emergency advisory basis.

She also acts for private and institutional clients on setting up investment funds and advising from inception and structuring through to licensing. She is also very experienced in general corporate and commercial matters including company incorporations, continuations (or re-domiciliations), mergers and acquisitions, liquidations, corporate restructurings, start-ups, private equity funds, and various other regulatory matters within the securities industry.

Recent engagements include:

  • Counsel to International Financial Institutions as lenders for syndicated financings, both secured and unsecured, in relation to a restructuring of sovereign debt.
  • Local counsel to a lender in connection with a major re-financing involving significant tracts of land located in Grand Bahama.
  • Advising on the corporate restructuring of a major medical tourism company in The Bahamas.
  • Assisting with the corporate reorganization of an international brewing/distillery operation.
  • Assisting with both public and private securities offerings involving, inter alia, utility companies and other commercial industries.
  • Acting for a major US private bank in connection with its establishment as an investment firm in The Bahamas, including obtaining all regulatory approvals.
  • Assisting with the establishment and structuring of an offshore cruise line company.
