GRAHAMTHOMPSON IS TOP RANKED AGAIN – CHAMBERS AND PARTNERS GLOBAL 2020

Nassau, The Bahamas – The law firm of GrahamThompson – The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos – has once again been recognised for industry excellence, by the prestigious Chambers and Partners, receiving the 2020 Band 1 Global ranking in general business law, which is the highest firm ranking.

Covering 185 jurisdictions, the London-based Chambers and Partners sets an international standard for legal services, with its deeply researched, peer review-based rankings of the best-of-the best in the legal profession around the world

This recognition is particularly significant for the firm, as GrahamThompson retains its ranking among the world’s leaders, for another consecutive year. Several of GrahamThompson’s attorneys have also been distinguished with Chambers and Partners top ranking distinctions for 2020 in three areas. In General Business Law, Sean McWeeney QC, Michelle Pindling-Sands, Stephen Wilson QC and Christopher Wells; Stephen Wilson QC and Tony Gruchot in General Business Law – Dispute Resolution; Dana Wells and Craig Roberts in General Business Law – Real Estate.

General Business Law

Sean McWeeney QC, a senior partner in GrahamThompson, and head of the firm’s corporate and financial services practice group is once again Band 1 ranked by Chambers and Partners. A recognition that the former Bahamas Attorney General has received for several consecutive years.

Chambers Review (HNW): Sean McWeeney QC, is a “well-established name” in the market. One peer says: “He is one of the best offshore lawyers across the board and certainly the go-to person for Bahamas work. He has handled some huge cases and the market unanimously sees him as the best private client lawyer in the Bahamas. He is very sophisticated, has great judgement and is very thoughtful and charismatic.” A market insider enthuses: “He is remarkable. He is hands-down still the guru. He is a champion of the industry and the island.”

Michelle Pindling- Sands, who is also a member of the firm’s corporate and financial services practice group, receives Chambers and Partners Global Band 3 recognition. The GrahamThompson partner receives the honour for a second consecutive year.

Chambers Review: Michelle Pindling-Sands heads the firm’s shipping practice. She is an acknowledged expert in shipping finance and is also noted for her transactional strengths more broadly. Commentators regard her as “excellent” and attest to her “good reputation.”

Stephen Wilson QC, receives the Chambers Global 2020 “Foreign Expertise” in The Bahamas ranking. The GrahamThompson partner heads the firm’s Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands office.

Christopher Wells, is awarded the Chambers Global 2020 “Up and Coming” ranking. This is the first Chambers Global ranking for the Turks and Caicos based GrahamThompson partner.

General Business Law – Dispute Resolution

Stephen Wilson QC, who heads the firm’s Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands office, and leads that office’s dispute resolution practice is also Band 1 ranked. A recognition that he too has received consecutively for a number of years. He also receives the Chambers Global 2020 “Expertise Based Abroad” ranking.

Chambers Review: Stephen Wilson QC is a “very tenacious” litigator and well liked by clients. His litigation experience spans a variety of areas, including financial services, property and employment disputes. Peers rate him as a “good advocate,” stating that “he’s very bright and knows his stuff.”

Tony Gruchot, received the Chambers 2020 distinction “Associate to Watch”. The recently named GrahamThompson partner receives the recognition for a consecutive year.

General Business Law – Real Estate

Dana Wells, who is head of the firm’s property and development practice group, is also a multi-year recipient of the Band 1 ranking. The senior partner receives the award in 2020 for another consecutive year.

Chambers Review: The outstanding Dana Wells is renowned for his prowess in matters of land law. His expertise extends to condominium and timeshare matters as well as residential projects and hotel developments. Interviewees agree he is “very knowledgeable” in his field.

Craig Roberts, GrahamThompson Consultant Counsel also receives the Chambers and Partners, highest ranking. He has been awarded the Band 1 distinction for another year following many such previous recognitions.

Chambers Review: Veteran practitioner Craig Roberts continues to consult on high-value property issues, and is considered one of the most eminent real estate attorneys in the country. He is especially well regarded for his in-depth knowledge of conveyancing.

Top Ranked – Band 1 – High New Worth Firm

In 2019 GrahamThompson was also recognised by Chambers and Partners as a top ranked firm – Band 1 – in the High Net Worth (HNW) Offshore Trusts Sector. Prestigious HNW individual honours were awarded to Sean McWeeney QC, who received the Band 1 ranking, and GrahamThompson Partners Tanya Hanna and Ryan Pinder, who are both also repeat recipients of the Chambers HNW recognition.
