Michela Barnett-Ellis Partner Promotion
January 2, 2016Michela Barnett-Ellis was appointed a Partner in Graham Thompson on January 1st, 2016. Michela was recently honored by Citywealth Magazine, named as one of the Citywealth IFC (International Financial Centers) Power Women Top 200, a considerable achievement for a young lawyer.
Michela starting at the Firm in 2007, with an initial training period under the guidance of then Senior Partner Craig Roberts, during which she received a solid grounding in property law.
She soon followed in the footsteps of her father, former Attorney General and Chief Justice Sir Michael Barnett, moving to the Firm’s litigation department.
In the litigation department, she has worked closely with the Firm’s Litigation Chairman, Robert Adams, and has developed a fine reputation as a detailed, tenacious and articulate advocate in the areas of banking, family law and property.
Within the property arena, she is sought after for her significant experience in Quieting Titles, a procedurally complex specialty. In the family law area, Michela is widely recognized as a passionate but realistic advocate who leaves no detail to chance.
Michela obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology at the University of Western Ontario. Subsequently, she obtained her LL.B from the University of London, UK’s School of Oriental and African studies. She is a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn and an active volunteer with the Bahamas AIDS society.
