Former Graham Thompson Partner Appointed Supreme Court Justice
May 1, 2015Petra Hanna-Weekes, a former Partner with the law firm of Graham Thompson based in Freeport, Grand Bahama, has been appointed a Justice of the Supreme Court, effective May 1st, 2015.
Hanna-Weekes, who has worked in the Banking & Finance, Immigration & Naturalization, and Property & Development Practice Groups at Graham Thompson since July 2010, was admitted to the Bahamas Bar in 1986 and the Bermuda Bar in 1990.
Hanna-Weekes has a wealth of public service experience, including serving as a Stipendiary & Circuit Magistrate in Freeport from 1993 to 1998, Former Chairman of the Shop and Liquor Licensing Committee, Bahamas Bar Council Member from 2012 to 2013, and Past President and Director of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Grand Bahama Chapter and she currently serves as Regional Vice President for FIDA International.
Hanna-Weekes will be assigned to the Supreme Court in Freeport, where she has lived for many years.
Hanna-Weekes is married to Esmond Weekes, an Assistant Professor at The College of The Bahamas, and they have a daughter, Solange, a student at Howard University.
