Graham Thompson’s New Partner Appointments 2015

On January 1st, 2015, Kenneth L. Lightbourne, Alistair W. Chisnall and Dwayne E. Fernander were appointed Partners in Graham Thompson, a leading Bahamian law firm founded by Peter Graham over 65 years ago.  The new Partners join a firm that consistently demonstrates industry defining leadership in key legal practice areas, and which includes among its Partners former Attorneys General, Supreme Court Justices and Magistrates.

Kenneth L. Lightbourne joined the Firm’s Nassau offices in 2005 as a member of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group.  He has excelled in providing advisory services and litigation representation to hotels, private individuals and leading financial service providers, especially in the areas of Banking and Labour & Employment.  He is a sought-after public speaker and well known for conducting client seminars that provide practical advice in areas of banking and employment.

Kenneth graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Business Administration & Finance from Morehouse College, Atlanta, Georgia, before obtaining his LL.B and LL.M with a concentration in International & Commercial Law from Buckingham University in England. Kenneth is a Council Member of the Bahamas Bar Association, a former member of the Board of the Bahamas Humane Society and a former Director and Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of The Health Professions Council.

Alistair W. Chisnall, who joined the Firm in 2007, enjoys a successful Nassau-based practice that serves local and international clients in the Commercial, Corporate, Banking, Finance, Property and Development sectors.  Alistair has extensive experience working on resort, hotel and residential developments, and further works closely with the firm’s Private Client Group, handling the property aspects of that Group’s transactions.   He has widespread expertise in corporate finance, specifically in the structuring of syndicated loans.

Alistair graduated from the University of Southampton with an LL.B, and undertook further studies at the National University of Singapore in International Legal Studies. He is an active member of the Board of Directors of the Bahamas National Trust and a former park warden of the Exuma Land & Sea Park.  Alistair previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Ranfurly Home for Children.

Dwayne E. Fernander, a member of the Firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group, has practiced in the Firm’s Freeport office since 2007.  He is a very committed advocate who enjoys a fine reputation advising on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious litigation matters in the areas of Employment, Personal Injury and Construction. Dwayne has particular experience in construction arbitration and disputes, and has worked on numerous multi-million dollar matters throughout the Bahamas.

Dwayne began his career in the Customs Department in 1986 where he was commended for his work in the Investigation Section.  In 2004, he moved with his wife and children to England to pursue an LL.B at Buckingham University, where he obtained his degree with First Class Honours.  He completed his bar vocational studies at the College of Law in London and is a member of the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn. Dwayne is an active member of the Church of The Good Shepherd.
