Tanya Hanna Receives STEP Founders Award

Tanya R. Hanna, a Partner with Graham Thompson based in the Nassau office, recently received the prestigious “Founders Award for Outstanding Achievement” from STEP, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.  The Founders Award is given to members of STEP for extraordinary service and meritorious accomplishments in advancing the aims and objectives of STEP worldwide.  Mrs. Hanna, who specializes in trust law at Graham Thompson, is a former Chairperson of the STEP Bahamas branch and is a highly experienced practitioner in the field of trust and estate planning.  She has represented many major trust companies as well as private individuals in a wide spectrum of trust and corporate matters during her 20 years with Graham Thompson.

The award, which was simultaneously presented to Tanya Hanna of Graham Thompson and Dianne Bingham of Butterfield Bank & Trust Limited, was announced by the Chief Executive of STEP Worldwide, David Harvey, in London.   The award presentation took place during a Nassau STEP event on 15th February at the British Colonial Hilton, where the Minister of Financial Services, The Honourable Hope Strachan, was the guest speaker.

STEP is the largest and most influential organization of trust professionals in the world and has a network of national chapters around the world.  Both Mrs. Bingham and Mrs. Hanna continue to be  active members and supporters of the work of STEP in The Bahamas and the Caribbean.

On the occasion of the award, Judith Whitehead, Managing Partner of Graham Thompson, expressed the Firm’s pride in Mrs. Hanna’s achievements, “Her extraordinary commitment to excellence in trust law and corporate matters has inspired a new generation of lawyers at the Firm to pursue this challenging specialization.”
