GT Partners Chisnall & Paine – Bahamas Real Estate Practice Guide 2024

June 1, 2024

Nassau, The Bahamas. In the latest Chambers Real Estate Global Practice Guide 2024, GrahamThompson Partners and co-authors of The Bahamas Chapter, Alistair Chisnall and Erica Paine, highlight the “Law and Practice” of real estate in The Bahamas, against a backdrop of market trends that saw a booming real property sector – foreign investment and domestic sales – over the late-2020 to mid-2023 period.

Much of the activity was concentrated in the ultra-high-end and high-end segments of the market, including gated residential and resort communities as the most “sought after areas”. Remote and hybrid-styled working models that emerged out of the COVID-19 pandemic partly fueled this uptick. Changing the way we work and do business all around the world.

Authors underscored the impact of disruptive technologies on service delivery in the sector. And they highlighted The Bahamas government’s commitment to enhancing “ease of doing business” indicators, including land administration reform.

The guide takes a comprehensive look at the law and practice of real estate in The Bahamas. Areas of coverage include:

  • Sale and Purchase
  • Real Estate Finance
  • Planning and Zoning
  • Investment Vehicles
  • Commercial Leases
  • Construction
  • Tax

Each area comprises a range of sub-categories.

The global practice guide is published by Chambers and Partners. Chapter 39 of the guide, comprises content for The Bahamas. To read the 2024 Bahamas Chapter, follow this link, https://practiceguides.chambers.com/practice-guides/real-estate-2024/bahamas.
